Fluke Networks offers AirMapper app for Android
Test & Measurement World Staff - September 9, 2012
The AirMagnet AirMapper app from Fluke Networks provides a visual heat map of actual WiFi throughput performance on Android-based smart phones and tablet computers to help developers design WiFi networks to be BYOD-ready (Bring Your Own Device). While existing applications can map speed and signal strength or perform throughput spot checks, the AirMapper app provides a visual throughput map, which is key to optimizing WiFi networks by taking the actual user experience of mobile devices into account.
In addition to providing a heat map of the actual throughput of smart devices, AirMapper furnishes details of the WiFi network, including AP (access point) channel, signal, and security properties, helping to ensure the delivery of critical business applications. Users can locate any AP on a floor map and add text, photo, audio, or video annotations during the site survey. In addition, the AirMapper app allows the export of site-survey projects to AirMagnet Survey Pro via email, Dropbox, Evernote, Bluetooth, and more, for streamlined information sharing, analysis, and reporting.
AirMapper Professional costs $199 and is available from the Fluke Networks e-store. A freeware version is also available for downloading.
