Merifix PCB test-fixture kits simplify lab work

Test & Measurement World Staff - September 11, 2012

Aimed at engineering benches where the use of conventional fixtures can be too costly, PCB test-fixture kits from Merifix enable engineers to replace unreliable, makeshift lash-ups with proper fixtures for routine tasks, such as programming and testing prototypes. Furthermore, the fixtures are simple enough that a system can be put together in just a few hours.

Each fixture has a single-sided probe plate and hinged mechanical action. All of the parts are laser cut, and the kit is supplied flat for end-user assembly and customization. Kits come in two sizes. The MF300 offers a probe plate size of 6×7 in. (152×178 mm) and a maximum probing area of 5×3½ in. (125×90 mm). The MF500 has a probe plate size of 6×9 in. (152×229 mm) and a maximum probing area of 5×5½ in. (125×140 mm). They are suitable for probing boards that are 1/32 in. to 1/16 in. thick using specified probes and the supplied hold-down posts without adjustment.

Fixture kits include all the mechanical components of the fixture itself, mounting hardware, a set of hold-down posts, and a printed quick-start guide. A full-length assembly guide is downloadable. Kits do not include test probes.

The kits can be purchased directly from the Merifix online store, along with a variety of tools and accessories. The MF300 costs $149, while the larger MF500 costs $169.
