Test sets verify and calibrate radar altimeter
Test & Measurement World Staff - September 12, 2012
Used in the lab or on the flight line, two radar-altimeter test sets from Eastern OptX test altitude range accuracy by replicating the distance to ground and propagation loss. Both the E-6061 and E-6071 instruments test any radar altimeter format and encryption, including FMCW (frequency modulated continuous wave), CDF (constant difference frequency), pulsed or non-pulsed, spread spectrum, frequency hopping, variable power, and LPI (low probability of intercept).
The 6000 series operates from 4.2 GHz to 4.4 GHz and is able to simulate altitudes up to 50,000 ft with altitude accuracy of up to 0.1%. A universal radar-altimeter test set, the E-6061 verifies system accuracy and receiver sensitivity and can be used for design, development, production testing, and calibration, as well as flight-line testing. It has 128 discrete altitude settings and offers front-panel or remote computer control. Offering three fixed altitude settings, the E-6071 is a portable radar-altimeter test set aimed at flight-line testing.
The test sets are available immediately with delivery in 30 to 60 days. Prices for the E-6071 start at $20,000.
