Cable tester handles up to 5500 VDC

Test & Measurement World Staff - September 13, 2012

The Synor5000P, a self-contained high-voltage cable tester from French manufacturer Sefelec, is now available in the US from Global Test Solutions. Intended for cable and harness manufacturers, as well as depots responsible for repairing and certifying high-voltage or high-current cables, the instrument operates from 2 V to 4000 VAC or 5500 VDC with built-in hipot, insulation resistance, and continuity test functions.

The Synor5000P accommodates up to 384 test points using two relays per point. An unlimited number of cable test points can be added with expansion chassis. Winpass5000 instrument software eases the creation of test sequences by self-learning from a known-good cable. Once the instrument learns the steps, only fine-tuning of limits and ranges is required. Alternatively, an Excel file can be imported.

The cable tester requires a PC with one available Ethernet port. It has a self-test function to ensure that all relays are functioning, as well as on/off and emergency stop.

Prices start at $9000. Delivery takes six to eight weeks.
