XMC module offers multiple ARINC 429 channels
Test & Measurement World Staff - September 28, 2012
Joining AIM’s family of XMC modules for ARINC 429 testing and simulation is the Model AXC429-x, which offers a choice of 4, 8, 16, or 32 programmable transmit/receive channels, plus up to 8 discrete inputs and 8 discrete outputs.
The mezzanine module provides test, simulation, monitoring,
and data-bus analysis functions for various ARINC 429 applications. Each of the
independent channels is software-programmable for receive or transmit mode and
configurable for ARINC 429 high and low bit rates.
The AXC429-x incorporates 128 Mbytes of onboard RAM, a high-speed FPGA with integrated PCI Express interface, a time-code microcontroller, and RISC processor. It provides 100% real-time recording and synchronized replay off all channels concurrently and achieves PCI Express data transfer rates of up to 2.5 Gbps.
Engineers can install the mezzanine module on a PCI Express, VME/VPX, or CompactPCI Express host carrier board or an embedded host computer. An onboard IRIG-B time encoder/decoder provides a sinusoidal output and free-wheeling mode for time-tag synchronization on the system level when using one or more AXC429-x or other AIM databus and network interfaces.
