RTD data logger is accurate to within ±0.05°C
Test & Measurement World Staff - October 3, 2012
A compact data-logging module, the OM-CP-RTDTEMP101A from Omega Engineering, employs a 100-Ω platinum RTD sensing element for temperature measurement in the manufacturing lab, as well as R&D environments.
The
device has a measurement range of –200°C to +850°C, a temperature resolution of
0.001°C, and a TCR (temperature coefficient of resistance) of 0.00385.
Calibrated accuracy is ±0.05°C; ±0.015 Ω (0 to 200 Ω); and ±0.015 Ω plus 0.015%
of reading (200°C to 400°C).
A removable screw terminal accepts 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire RTD input, while a 3.6-V lithium battery provides a typical lifetime of 10 years at a 15-minute read rate. The data logger also provides a storage capacity of 670,000 readings and a USB interface for downloading data to a PC. A start/stop function allows the device to be started and stopped multiple times without having to download data or communicate with a PC. Windows-based software, which is required to operate the data logger, is sold separately.
The OM-CP-RTDTEMP101A data logger costs $179 ($239 with a NIST calibration certificate). The OM-CP-IFC200 Windows software costs $129 and includes a USB cable.
