Agilent unveils ADS 2012 EDA software
Test & Measurement World Staff - October 13, 2012
The next major release of Agilent’s RF and microwave EDA (electronic design automation) software, ADS 2012 offers new capabilities that improve productivity and efficiency for GaAs, GaN, and silicon RF power-amplifier multichip-module design.
It also supports Agilent’s artificial
neural network-based NeuroFET model and includes a new electrothermal
simulator.
Dockable windows enable designers to access frequently used dialog boxes, such as component information and layer visibility in layout. New component search and net navigator functions make it easier to work with larger designs, while an archive/unarchive utility simplifies the sharing of designs and workspaces.
Increased integration with EMPro simulation software enables 3-D EM (electromagnetic) components to be saved as database cells for use directly in ADS 2012. The new electrothermal simulator is based on a 3-D thermal solver natively integrated into ADS and incorporates dynamic temperature effects to improve accuracy in thermally aware circuit-simulation results.
Additionally, two ADS DesignGuides have been updated in the 2012 release. The Load Pull Design Guide now offers mismatch simulation to indicate device or amplifier sensitivity to load VSWR or phase angle. The Amplifier DesignGuide features updates that let users see amplifier performance at a specific output power or a specific amount of gain compression.
