Dual-frequency unit locates optical cable routing

Staff - November 11, 2012

GAO Fiber Optics’ Model C0290001 integrates a transmitter and receiver into a single unit to detect the route and depth of buried fiber-optic cable over distances of up to 10 km and depths of up to 4.5 m.
The instrument offers a choice of location methods, including injection, inductance, and clamp, at signal frequencies of 480 Hz and 31 kHz.

Operators can use the fiber-optic cable detector for accurate positioning, depth measurement, and long-distance tracking of underground pipeline routing. Leveraging a multicoil electromagnetic system and digital signal processing to improve accuracy, the cable detector can identify a target pipeline from multiple pipelines. It also features automatic gain adjustment, pipeline state detection, and low-battery indication.
