PIM testers extend transmit carrier power

Staff - December 9, 2012

A line of portable PIM (passive intermodulation) testers from AWT Global offers an adjustable transmit power range of +15 dBm to +44 dBm for each carrier to test and analyze telecommunications network infrastructure. These systems are equally suited for testing macro cells, as well as outdoor and in-building DAS (distributed antenna system) installations.

Ruggedized to withstand harsh environmental conditions, units in the PIM+ series provide five test modes: field diagnostic, analyzer, sweep, and optional DTP (distance to PIM) and DTF (distance to fault). The DTP and DTF (VSWR) measurement option is available as an embedded module, making it convenient for field work. The instruments measure intermodulation products IM3, IM5, IM7, IM9, IM11, and IM13, achieving PIM sensitivity of –172 dBc at 2×43-dBm carriers.

The PIM+ portable testers are offered for a range of mobile communications bands, including 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2600 MHz.
