Configurable PXI multiplexer switches 100 V

Staff - January 21, 2013

A 3U PXI module joins Pickering Interfaces’ line of solid-state PXI multiplexers, providing selectable switching configurations that deliver single-pole, two-pole, and multiple-bank capabilities from a single-slot module. The 40-683 multiplexer employs long-life solid-state relays that are capable of switching ±100 V and 125 mA continuous.

A soft front panel allows engineers to set a variety of multiplexer configurations, ranging from 8-bank, 8-channel, 2-pole switching up to 1-bank, 128-channel, 1-pole switching. Individual relay control allows for custom configurations. The 40-683 can be operated as a conventional multiplexer with break-before-make action when a new channel is selected. In two-pole configurations, multiple channels can be simultaneously selected without restriction. In one-pole configurations, the channels that can be simultaneously selected are limited by the use of two-pole switching.

Pickering supplies kernel, IVI (Interchangeable Virtual Instrument), and VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) drivers that are compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7. The VISA driver is also compatible with real-time operating systems, such as LabView RT.
