Board-level generators/pulsers target OEM designs
Staff - February 9, 2013
A family of digital-delay and pulse generators from Berkeley Nucleonics includes CompactPCI, VXI, and custom board versions to meet OEM space, power, and cost constraints for timing, gating, synchronizing, and delaying applications.
The Model 598 CompactPCI digital delay generator offers system integrators eight independent delay channels per card with timing resolution of 1 ps. Channel-to-channel jitter is less than 15 ps. An architecture based on a common backplane and a standard GUI enables control of many modules and eliminates the need for multiple power supplies and front-panel controls.Typical card configurations employ LEMO output connectors to deliver signals with precision timing at adjustable amplitudes from 2.5 V to 10.0 V into 50-Ω impedance. An onboard input connector allows system integration with external triggering. In addition, Berkeley Nucleonics offers a stabilized internal clock that can be used to trigger the delay generator.
The Model 588 pulse-generator board series gives OEMs a choice of two, four, or eight independent channels; 1-ps or 250-ps timing resolution; and RS-232, USB, and Ethernet interfaces.
