Radio tester performs 3GPP fading simulation

Rohde & Schwarz has introduced a fading-simulation module for the CMW500 wideband radio communication tester to allow smart-phone and chipset manufacturers to carry out standard-compliant MIMO performance tests during LTE testing. The CMW-B510F fading module is integrated into the CMW500 and configured directly from the menu of the tester. This not only eliminates the need for an additional instrument, but also saves space and minimizes setup effort.

The add-on module simulates the dynamic propagation conditions as defined in the test cases of the 3GPP standard for LTE, WCDMA, HSPA, HSPA+, GSM, and EGPRS. Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate the new fading feature at this month’s Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.
